Turbocharger key parameters

①A/R

The A/R value is an important performance parameter for turbines and compressors. R (Radius) is the distance from the center of the turbine shaft to the center of gravity of

thecross-section of the turbine inlet (or compressor outlet). A (Area) refers to the cross-sectional area of the turbine air inlet (or compressor air outlet) corresponding to the above

center of gravity point. The ratio obtained by dividing A by R and then divided by 25.4 is the A/R value.

①Pressure ratio π

Refers to the ratio of the compressor outlet pressure to the compressor inlet pressure.

π=After P pressure/Before P pressure

P pressure refers to the absolute pressure at the outlet of the compressor (kPa)

P pressure refers to the absolute pressure at the inlet of the compressor (kPa)

②Inlet air flow

Refers to the weight of gas flowing through the compressor per unit time. Its unit is kg/s (unit for bench test is kg/h).

③Total efficiency of supercharger

The total efficiency of the supercharger refers to the ratio of the output energy of the supercharger to the input energy. It is the product of compressor efficiency, turbine efficiency

and mechanical efficiency.

④Trim

The Trim value refers to the ratio of the square of the air inlet diameter to the square of the air outlet diameter of the compressor impeller, multiplied by 100. The turbine trim value is

calculated by comparing the square of the exhaust port diameter with the square of the intake port diameter and multiplying by 100.

⑤Pressure ratio π

Refers to the ratio of the compressor outlet pressure to the compressor inlet pressure.
